greenwich circus festival 2019

If you’re new to AirCraft Circus Academy, you may be wondering why we’re all talking about Greenwich Circus Festival! If you don't know, Greenwich Circus Festival is our annual celebration of all things circus - a two day event split into a day and evening programme each day, filled with exciting circus workshops and shows. 2019 marks Greenwich Circus Festivals ninth year, and it gets better every year!

The day programme begins at 12pm, and starts with 2 hours of circus workshops for adults and children, which are free with your day ticket - simply book your space online here. You’ll have the opportunity to try out 4 different circus skills, and there are even special workshop slots available for under 5s! You can try the following skills:

Flying Trapeze Workshop - flying trapeze is the classic circus art, beautiful, inspirational and frequently breathtaking. It's all about taking a risk, being in the moment and acting on instinct. You’ll learn how to swing and dismount during your session.

Juggling Workshop - for those happier with two feet firmly on the floor, juggling is the perfect skill! Develop your hand eye coordination and learn different juggling variations during this workshop.

Acrobalance Workshop - acrobalance is all about learning how to work as a team, and trusting the people you are working with! You’ll learn beautiful partner shapes, and even build a group pyramid in this workshop.

Static Trapeze Workshop - static trapeze is a wonderful aerial discipline, with a wide variety of shapes and tricks there’s something for everyone - from beginners all the way to advanced students. You’ll learn how to get up and stand on the trapeze, as well as a couple of some shapes!

Under 5s Circus Room - this fun circus room will have everything from hula hoops to gymnastics ribbons, the perfect space for your little ones to enjoy the fun that is circus!

At 3pm you’ll have the chance to sit back, relax, and be amazed by our youth circus students, in two circus shows that will conclude the day programme. Our trapeze tots, circus ninjas, and circus teens, will perform a mini showcase; demonstrating what they’ve learnt during the September term - you’ll be amazed by their circus feats! This year we invited students to join our Youth Performance Company, and they’ve spent the autumn term preparing an incredible production themed around Space! Trust us when we tell you it’s going to be out of this world!

The evening programme begins at 8pm, and is kicked off with the All Sorts Cabaret, a circus cabaret featuring our adult circus students, professional development course alumni, Temple Cloud Circus School students, and friends of AirCraft Circus Academy. Then, to end the evenings performances, AirCraft Circus Performance present their brand new production Sizzling Hot Circus, after two hit performances of Hoxton Hall, the company are excited to bring the production home to ACA!

Over the next 6 weeks we’ll bring you lots of exciting content, with behind the scenes looks at how we plan and manage the event, from event management to organising 5 separate productions!
